John has taught for 25 years. For most of that time he has been a Head of Drama. For 18 years he ran Drama support groups, across all phases in Lincolnshire, with the backing of the English Inspectors.

In 1999, he became an Advanced Skills Teacher, focusing on Teaching and Learning, Changing Behaviours and Drama.

He has worked as both a school-based and an LEA-based AST

He has been a Teaching and Learning Consultant for the Foundation Subjects Strand of the National Curriculum

John has been an Accelerated Learning Trainer

For National Drama, he was Primary Officer and is Web Editor.

He is an Associate Consultant to QCA, having worked on the Review of the Primary Curriculum and as a GCSE Accreditation Consultant.

John is Drama consultant for the General Teaching Council of Wales and Associate Consultant to GTCE.

For OCR, John is a member of the Drama Question Paper Evaluation Committee. However, he has also served as Assessor, Chair of the Drama Panel, and Syllabus Writer.

He has experience as a governor and as a member of School Leadership Teams.

He has trained as an Ofsted inspector and an HLTA assessor
